How to Apply?

Before I talk about the application process, I would like to first talk about the admission requirements.

Undergraduate Admission Requirement.

1. Academic Preparation

  • All first-year students who apply to NJIT must submit an official high school transcript.
  • We consider the GPA that is indicated on your high school transcript. We generally look for students in the top 25% of their class. 

2. Standardized Test Policy

  • First-year students applying to NJIT for Spring 2023 and Fall 2023 can choose to not submit SAT and/or ACT scores. 
  • Average composite SAT score for our enrolling first-year class is 1285 (Math and Critical Reading).
  • Average ACT score for our enrolling first-year class is 26.
  • We recommend you send us all of your official scores as soon as possible, or no later than the time you test, to avoid missing a deadline.
  • SAT school code: 2513
  • ACT school code: 25803

3. Personal Essay

  • Included in the Common Application is an essay. The purpose of the essay is to assess your writing ability and, more importantly, to learn more about you as an individual.

5. Portfolio

  • Undergraduate applicants interested in Architecture, Digital Design, Industrial Design and Interior Design majors are required to submit a digital portfolio of creative work. 

Application Process

As a First year Student(International Student)

  1. Visit the NJIT website using the link https://www.njit.edu/apply-now
  2. Tap on “Apply Now” button
  3. Choose your category as a First year student 
  4. A page will be open where you will be asked to create an account with “Commonapp.org”. Enter all the information in the spaces provided
  5. Tap on the “create account” button
  6. A welcome page which is also your dashboard will be shown next
  7. On the dashboard, select “College search” and enter the “NJIT”
  8. The university will show up, add it to your college list and begin your application.

As a Transfer Student

  1. Visit the NJIT website using the link https://www.njit.edu/apply-now
  2. Tap on “Apply Now” button
  3. Choose your category as a transfer student.
  4. NJIT application portal will be shown to you, log in if you have an account with the university. Create an account if you don’t have one with them.
  5. Begin your application now by filling out all the spaces that will be provided
