Although most people call him Shaq in the public eye, Shaquille O’Neal is his legal name. Shaq was a former professional basketball player for the United States who was born in Newark, New Jersey, on March 6, 1972. He currently serves as a sports analyst on the Inside the NBA television show.

Joe Toney and Lucille O’Neal were his parents. Joe Toney, Shaq’s father, was a high school basketball player who earned a scholarship to play at Seton Hall. Following his release from prison for drug possession, Joe Toney granted Phillip Arthur Harrison, Shaq’s stepfather, the legal right to be Shaq’s father.

Shaq was born into a family of tall people; his father was 6 feet 1 inch (1.85 m) tall.

It’s interesting to note that Shaq’s mother, who measured 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m) tall, was taller than his father. Shaq was 6 feet 6 inches (1.98 meters) tall even at his age. Shaq’s family spent some time in Germany before returning to San Antonio, Texas.

Shaq began playing basketball at Robert G. Cole High School when he turned 16 and was already 6 feet 10 inches (2.08 m) tall. Shaq grew till he was 7 feet tall (2.16 meters) and 325 pounds (147 kg) in weight.

Shaq, a four-time NBA champion, played for the LSU Tigers before being selected in the second round of the 1992 NBA Draft and joining the Orlando Magic. In 1992–1993 he was named Rookie of the Year, and in 1995 he led his group to the NBA Finals.

Shaq joined the Los Angeles Lakers after playing for the Orlando Magic for four years, where he contributed to the team’s three championship victories in 2000, 2001, and 2002. Due to his disagreements with Kobe Bryant, Shaq joined the Miami Heat later that year.

With the Miami Heat, he earned his fourth NBA title in 2006. Shaq played for the Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Boston Celtics from 2007 and 2011, when he announced his retirement. The 1999–2000 Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award, the 1992–93 NBA Rookie of the Year Award, 15 All-Star Game selections, three All–Star Game MVP awards, three Finals MVP awards, two scoring titles, 14 All–NBA team selections, and three NBA All–Defensive Team selections are just a few of Shaq’s accomplishments.

He is one of the select few athletes to have won MVP honors in the NBA Finals, All-Star Game, and All-Star Game in the same year. In addition to being elected to the FIBA Hall of Fame in 2017, Shaq was also inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016.

Shaq found time for music outside of basketball and put out four rap albums. Shaq is also well-known for producing electronic music and performing as a DJ under the stage name DIESEL.

On December 26, 2002, Shaq wed Shaunie Nelson; together, they had four children. Shareef, Amirah, Shaqir, and Me’arah were born on January 11, 2000, November 13, 2001, and April 19, 2003, respectively.

Taahirah O’Neal, who was born on July 19, 1996, is another child that Shaq has from a prior relationship with Arnetta Yardbourgh. The offspring of Shaq range in height from 6 feet 10 inches to 7 feet.

Shareef was already 6-foot-7 inches (2.01 m) tall when he first appeared in high school basketball highlights in 2015. He is currently 7 feet tall.

Me’arah is 5 ft 10 inches tall, while Taahirah O’Neal is 6 feet 3 inches tall.
